King’s Salon for Men, co-owned by Erika Gault and Nicole Hutchins, opened on Jan. 4 to provide Midland with a precise, affordable and professional hair care experience for men.
King’s is located at 3624 North Saginaw Road, just east of Dow High School.
Having previously been a salon under different landlords, the location required two and a half months of renovation before it was ready for its opening day.
Both proprietors previously worked in the medical field. Gault has been licensed for six years, specializing in men’s hair care for four and a half of those years. Hutchins has been licensed for roughly four years and likewise found her passion in cutting men’s hair.
The two decided to set up shop in Midland after examining local salons and barber shops and concluding that there were not many men-specific salons in town.
“We don’t see a lot of men-exclusive services,” Hutchins said. “We really wanted to bring something to the area that wasn’t going to be oversaturated and has the potential to grow and become a community staple.”
Hutchins said the idea to open a salon came from looking for a way to serve clientele in the best and most flexible environment possible. She said they love to offer exceptional cutting service for exceptional prices to satisfy their clients without cutting any corners.
King’s also sells STMNT hair care products at its location.
“It’s a newer product line developed from three master barbers, actually,” Gault said. “They are very high-end, and our clients have responded accordingly and purchased them because they’re better than what they’re using.”
King’s is currently running Valentine’s Day special through Saturday, Feb. 12, which allows for the purchase of a regular men’s haircut to also include either a free beard trim or free eyebrow wax. They plan to add more holiday events and deals in the future.
Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are preferred and can be made at www.kings-salon.com or at 989-423-1003.
