We’re certainly spoiled for adventure in Missouri – especially for those who love hiking. After all, it would take us years, if not an entire lifetime, to hit all of the hiking trails that crisscross the state. If you’re up for a bit of a challenge that’s rewarded with gorgeous views of rock formations, wildflowers, and lush green, follow the Rock Quarry Trail in Missouri.

During these uncertain times, please keep safety in mind and consider adding destinations to your bucket list to visit at a later date.

A day of outdoor adventure awaits at Rockwoods Reservation in Wildwood, an 1,800-acre nature reserve that’s brimming with natural beauty.

One of the best ways to explore the nature reserve is to set off on a hike – like the Rock Quarry Trail.

Look for the visitor center when you first arrive at the nature reserve. You’ll find the trailhead near the parking lot, making it easy to just park and hike.

Tallying just over two miles, Rock Quarry Trail earns a moderate rating from All Trails, predominately due to the uphill climbs you’ll face.

However, the trail also boasts a ton of natural beauty, including natural rock formations and…

A few caves. Definitely wear a pair of sturdy hiking boots for your trek along this predominately-gravel path.

Because of the gravel, hikers report that the trail really doesn’t get muddy at all – even after it rains.

Be prepared to climb stairs, too.

If you’re hiking during the warmer months, you’ll be treated to beautiful displays of colorful wildflowers. The trail, however, is popular in all four seasons.
